How do you show your thanks?

Since Thanksgiving is this week, many of us will be taking time to specifically think about all the things we are thankful for. This is something I try to do every day, as practicing the act of gratitude has improved my life in numerous ways. The more you let yourself and others know you are thankful the more you open up the space to receive even more into your life.

People enjoy being around optimistic, happy people. Why are they this way? Because on a regular basis they appreciate all the opportunities, relationships, experiences, material goods, and even things like their good health.

They thank people regularly, they donate their time and money to good causes, and they usually have some kind of ritual in their life that is all about how thankful they are. For some it is writing in a daily gratitude journal, for others it is prayer, and for still others it may be spending time right before bed reflecting on all the good things that they experienced that day.

I'm usually a very positive, cheerful person. A little over a week ago I totaled my car in a rollover accident due to ice. The first few days I was very negative as I couldn't believe that my life had been going along so well and then this happened. I didn't like the way I was being at all and had to work through that.

Because I have developed a strong network of support the past year, my family and friends immediately sent me love, healing thoughts, prayers, phone calls, email messages, and their positive energy. It really helped me tremendously.

Instead of wallowing around in self-pity for the next several months as my body heals I have been able to already shift mentally and emotionally. I'm excited now about healing as quickly as possible so that I can get back to following my passions and serving others.

Already I was able yesterday to work for 2 hours with a client who is also a friend and person who accepts me for who I am and encourages me to keep stepping into my greatness even under difficult circumstances.

I was able to forgive myself for how I behaved and thought for that first few days and realize that it is how I act from now on that will determine how quickly my body is able to heal. I choose to be positive and help my body heal through both my thoughts and actions.

My friends and family are absolute blessings to me. I cherish our relationships. Today I want to publicly acknowledge and thank everyone in my life whether you know me personally or are just a reader of my blog, follow me on Facebook or twitter, or are an email buddy. All of you are important to me. It's with your help that I'm doing wonderful things with my life and have not allowed the challenges that have arisen to send me backwards. You have encouraged me, cared about me, and let me know that I matter. Now it's my turn to let you all know that you matter to me too and are very important to me.

How can you show your thanks today? How do you show your thanks? Comment below if you'd like to. Thank you all, dear readers of my blog. Blessings to you each day.

Elaine (my niece) passing her masters exams is too, as well as my new grandchild being born this week, my wonderful marriage of 25 years to Tim,and so much more. I have so much to be thankful for & am especially glad that I'm aware of that and not taking it for granted.
