This past weekend I was in Santa Fe for a retreat. There were many things learned there. One of them I'd like to share with you today.
In my life, it turns out I tend to make projections a lot. What is a projection? Well, it could be making an assumption or thinking up a belief or outcome for someone else. For instance, when someone doesn't show up on time to an appointment, I may think all sorts of things- they overslept, they forgot something and had to go back home, they got stuck in traffic, or something bad happened to them. I'm making up all sorts of projections for them, and most of the time none of them end up being true.
Sometimes when I do this it's more serious than that example, and not at all pretty. I may do this in regards to why someone acts the way they do, or why something is happening in their life.
In either case, this is not a healthy thing for me to do for either myself or them. It could even hurt them and thus our relationship because I've projected unto them negative thoughts I'm thinking or saying aloud about them. It hasn't served me one iota. I'm truly sorry that I've been doing this for as long as I can remember. Please forgive me if I have done this to you.
Why am I sharing this? It's possible that you, being human, may be doing this too. With the help of those at the retreat I have come up with a solution to change my behavior, and you are welcome to use it also.
Every time I now catch myself doing this, I'm going to change that thought to "I see this person in their Greatness." I'll actually use the person's name instead of saying this person. For example, " I see Penelope standing in her Greatness."
I plan to do this over and over until it becomes an actual positive habit for me and the way I do things.
What will happen when I do this? I will be lifting that person up and accepting them for who they are. I will be thinking of them as being the wonderful individual they are. Instead of thinking the worst about them or their situation, I'll be opening up the possibilities for fantastic things to happen for them. I will be more calm and not worry.
This new shift serves me much better because I am choosing to be the Light-bearer of Greatness when I do this. Stepping Into Your Greatness was the name of the retreat in Santa Fe. I'm doing that when I consciously make the decision to look at all people as standing in their Greatness too. We are Divine Beings. It's time I started treating everyone that way. No exceptions.
Every person, animal, and living thing on planet Earth is connected. We are all always Stepping Into Our Greatness. Let us all lift each other up by acknowledging that with all whom we encounter each day.
And so it is!
